Because of the increased popularity of the Ragdoll breed this website was set up by a group of experienced Ragdoll breeders. Wewould like to offer guidance and support to fellow Ragdoll enthusiasts in the hope that some of the pitfalls of breeding can be avoided.
We also would like to support pet owners by giving them tips on buying and caring for their Ragdoll and also if they have behavioural/health problems. Although your Veterinarian should always be the first port of call if a cat/kitten is unwell, it can sometimes help having someone more familiar with the breed to air concerns.
Reputable breeders who want to breed this wonderful cat, strive to keep the breed healthy and strong by using good quality breeding cats and following good breeding practises. Unfortunately, every year there is an increasing number of people who know little about the breed and make little effort to find out about it, churning out mediocre kittens to unsuspecting pet owners and even worse to novice breeders with no backup and support.
Throughout this site you will find helpful information for new breeders and pet people alike and hopefully also for the older established breeder and new ones trying to breed in the correct way. Hopefully, this site will give them encouragement as it is frustrating that unsuspecting people support unreputable breeders by purchasing their kittens.
We will also step back in time and follow the breed's journey from the originator of the breed, Ann Baker through to the Ragdoll's first appearance in the UK.
We will explain how the first Ragdoll Breed clubs were set up through to the breed gaining Champion status and up to the present day.
We will be adding to the site on a regular basis so if anyone has any information they want added to make the account as accurate as possible, please send it to us. All info included on the site will be with the consent of those involved and with credit attached to articles used.
